Rotorua Marathon 3:17

Posted on 4 June, 201712 August, 2017 by admin

Well Rotorua Marathon went almost perfectly. We arrived nice and early, so that Ange, Kath and Steve could enter the half. I was bag boy. After waving bye at their 8:00am start, I went and check their jumpers and bags into the bag check. On the way out I had a brief chat to Geoff Read more about Rotorua Marathon 3:17[…]

Coatesville 2017 Half Marathon – Race Report

Posted on 30 March, 201712 August, 2017 by admin

I looked at my time, it was 1:30:55, and the split was 45:39 for the first half, and 45:16 for the second half. So this told me I got it right. That was about the extent of my research into the day, it just felt good. So I wrote on Strava the following in response Read more about Coatesville 2017 Half Marathon – Race Report[…]

Hillary 2017

Posted on 28 February, 201712 August, 2017 by admin

2017 was to be my year, the year when I gave it my all, and knocked the Hillary off once and for all and felt a sense of conclusion. Spoiler alert, I’m not done. My build up had been tremendous. I had pushed really hard, and balanced my speed work, hill work, long runs and Read more about Hillary 2017[…]

2016 Onehunga Half – Report

Posted on 30 September, 20163 August, 2017 by admin

ONEHUNGA HALF MARATON – was my test run for the Auckland Marathon. And it went great. I was nervous heading into it. I’ve changed my diet, I had a cold and I was feeling slow. But God is good and everything came together. I finished in 1:31:58, which is a personal best for me, and Read more about 2016 Onehunga Half – Report[…]

Xterra – Waharau

Posted on 25 August, 201625 August, 2016 by admin

On Sunday 21st August 2016 was the Xterra Trail Series. It was a Waharau Regional park in the Hunua Rangers. It is 21.1km, with 950m of revelation climbing, from sea level to 688m, Auckland’s highest peak/point. The course goes straight up to 688m, and then down. Of course there are a few undulations along the Read more about Xterra – Waharau[…]

Hillary 2016

Posted on 28 February, 20163 August, 2017 by admin

Some reflections on the Hillary Trail race I just did. I started to think, what can I do that’s bigger than a marathon? I started reading about longer runs, and they were all on trails, and I’ve kind of enjoyed the trails. There is very little in the way of organised runs in NZ over Read more about Hillary 2016[…]

Auckland Marathon 3:13

Posted on 3 November, 20152 December, 2015 by admin

Auckland Marathon is complete. What a buzz the day was. I managed 3 hours and 13 minutes which for me is a personal best, so I was ecstatic. The weather was near perfect. There was lots of wind on the North Shore and going over the bridge, but it died away on the other side Read more about Auckland Marathon 3:13[…]

All systems go

Posted on 31 October, 20152 December, 2015 by admin

Special shout out to Angela, without her support I wouldn’t be able to do this. And thanks to Steve Thompson too for all his encouragement. Well that’s it. My last run has been completed. Just the Marathon to go tomorrow. Super excited. Strava tells me that I’ve done 3,008km leading up to today this year. For Read more about All systems go[…]

Onehunga Half Marathon

Posted on 29 September, 20153 October, 2015 by admin

Well Onehunga Half Marathon was my “warm-up” for Auckland. It gave me an opportunity to check pace and see how things are going. It’s the 3rd time I’ve run Onehunga. 2013 was my first ever run/race, and it took 1:46. Then 2014 took 1:35 and this year (2015) it was 1:33. This year Barry McGee is Read more about Onehunga Half Marathon[…]
